ATCO is a name synonymous with the revolution in weighing scales. Since
1987 Atco expanded its product portfolio by adding safety and security products,
instrumentation products, retail automation products and material handling products.
All these addition of products were like labour pain. Starting a factory and looking
for various items and suppliers was the most painful exercise. Delays were enormous,
quality of products we buy and the reliability of various vendors remained questionable
as there was no organized retailing channel for these products. Buying finished
goods to raw material and components were tremendous tasks. Purchase team was constantly
missing the dead line and result was additional investments in the form of higher
inventories, stand by equipment etc.

It was in 2003 during our various trips to developed countries especially USA, we
realized how people get their job done and save their time, money and energy to
focus on their business. Our past experience was enough to pick up these great benefits
occurring out of this system of procurement of industrial and business supplies.
For those who want to get their things done and focus on to their business and marketing
this was the only solution. We visited various retail chain store professionals
and stores to learn more about having industrial and business supply products under
one roof. |
Having understood the business of organized retailing of Industrial & business
products in developed countries, we carried out our own research on industrial buying
behavior back home. The result of the research highlighted the distinct gap area
in this segment & acceptability of such channel for these products. Taking the
cues from these finding we designed a robust supply chain management network backed
by strong IT support which gave birth to ATCOMAART - India's first network of
Industrial and Business Supplies Stores. An innovative initiative connecting
suppliers directly to the purchasers and reducing hassles of logistics significantly.
Thus offering enormous benefits to buyers as well as suppliers. Now Atcomaart is
set to redefine the industrial purchases in India by offering 35 product categories,
41,000 products & 5,10,000 SKUs under one roof.
