A snap action switch is a switch in which the speed of the contacts during actuation of the switch is relatively independent of the speed of the actuating mechanism. Snap action switch mechanisms rely on the use of detents or overcenter positioning to obtain a snap action mechanism. In the snap action type switche the contact making and breaking for a single electric current path involves two stationary contacts cooperating with two movable contacts on a single bridge. |
